At Christ Church we follow something called the Church Year.
The Church Year is a wonderful way of drawing us into holy times and sacred seasons. Some of these special days happen on a Sunday, but others fall outside that pattern. Here are some of those special, weekday services:
Christmas Eve:

7:30 p.m. – Christmas Eve Communion, December 24th: in person only
Ash Wednesday
7 p.m. On Ash Wednesday, we mark our foreheads with ashes in the sign of the cross, as a reminder of our frailty and God’s call to steward our time well. During this service, we also consider any special personal practices we wish to take during Lent, as a time of spiritual renewal.
Holy Week:
Easter is the most important day in the Church calendar as we celebrate new life in the risen Christ. Jesus’ death and resurrection was a world-changing event, and Holy Week is a special time of devotion for believers. We have two sacred services that we mark during Holy Week:
Maundy Thursday
7 p.m. At this service, we remember Jesus’ last Supper with his friends and his command that we love one another. Sharing communion on this night is a particular moment of mystery. At the end of the service, we quietly prepare for Jesus’ time of trial, by “stripping the altar” – that is, by removing the decorations in the church so that the space is as solemn as our hearts.
Good Friday
11 a.m. Good Friday is when Christians contemplate Christ’s suffering and death on the cross for our sake. Though it is a solemn service, it is also one filled with hope. We call it ‘good’ Friday, because this day marks the turning point in God’s plan to bring us home to him. The cross is a synonym for a heart symbol; it is a sign of God’s love for us. “For Christ died for us while we were still sinners, and by this God showed how much he loves us.”
