Supporting our members in prayer is very important at Christ Church.
Prayer requests can be e-mailed to our Prayer Chain co-ordinator.
We have a team who pray faithfully each day for these confidential requests.
The Alongsiders group is a long term prayer ministry that will continue to pray for needs as long as required.
Centering Prayer/Praying in Community:
At this particular time with the Pandemic our Heavenly Father/Mother God asks for our help to bring about change and transformation within ourselves and within the world around us. To help in this we invite you to join us in a time of prayer, personal intercessions, and then a silence of 20 minutes each Wednesday morning at 9:00 am in your own home, wherever you are, on a quiet walk or drive so that communally we can be a united force of energy and light in prayer together.
Basil Pennington and Thomas Keating suggest these steps for practicing Centering Prayer: 1. Sit comfortably with your eyes closed, relax, and quiet yourself. 2. Be in love and faith to God. 3. Choose a sacred word that best supports your sincere intention to be in the Lord's presence and open to His divine action within you. When your attention wanders, use this sacred word to re-focus.
Preparation for Centering Prayer; Wed. Jan. 13th, 2021
For God alone my soul in silence waits. Psalm 62:1
Prayer at the end of the 20 minute silence:-
Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly king, almighty God and Father, we worship you,
we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory….
For you are the Holy One. You alone are the Lord, you alone are the most high,
Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen
