Supporting our members in prayer is very important at Christ Church.
Prayer requests can be e-mailed to our Prayer Chain co-ordinator.
We have a team who pray faithfully each day for these confidential requests.
Centering Prayer/Praying in Community:
At this particular time with the Pandemic our Heavenly Father/Mother God asks for our help to bring about change and transformation within ourselves and within the world around us. To help in this we invite you to join us in a time of prayer, personal intercessions, and then a silence of 20 minutes each Wednesday morning at 9:00 am in your own home, wherever you are, on a quiet walk or drive so that communally we can be a united force of energy and light in prayer together.
Preparation for Centering Prayer; Wednesday, June 9th, 2021.
Light a candle for this morning’s Centering Prayer as we hold in our hearts the discovery of the mass grave for the Indigenous Children in Kamloops. May we hold the Indigenous Peoples in our hearts with love for them all as our brothers and sisters. May we share in their pain and face the darkness with them.
Basil Pennington and Thomas Keating suggest these steps for practicing Centering Prayer: 1. Sit comfortably with your eyes closed, relax, and quiet yourself. 2. Be in love and faith to God. 3. Choose a sacred word that best supports your sincere intention to be in the Lord's presence and open to His divine action within you. When your attention wanders, use this sacred word to re-focus.
Prayer at the end of the 20 minute silence:-
Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever. AMEN
Please let us know if you are joining us on Wednesdays.
